Rural Telephone Cooperative Touts Value of Bluebird Network’s Customer Service in a World Where Caring is Increasingly Rare

“I truly feel Bluebird’s approach to service delivery is ahead of any transport provider that we work with…”

COLUMBIA, MO – March 19, 2022 – Bluebird Network, a communications infrastructure provider with 10,000 route miles of fiber and operator of two data centers, recently received high praise from a rural telephone company, McDonough Telephone Cooperative (MTC), using Bluebird’s services.

Bluebird Network supplies MTC with the fiber connections and backhaul they need to support the connectivity needs of more than 20 communities throughout western and central Illinois.

“Typically, carriers don’t stay in touch with their customers during the installation process,” says Eric Lee, VP of Competitive Services at McDonough Telephone Cooperative. “Bluebird kept us in the loop and made sure that customer communication was a priority.”

Lee said Bluebird’s transparency is beneficial because there is nothing more frustrating for a business than ordering a new circuit and waiting for updates on the installation process.

“Bluebird’s installation process is an important differentiator,” he says. “They provided weekly updates and identified gating factors; they communicated those to us and reset our expectations. This progressed until the circuit was ready to be turned up. The updates were meaningful. I wish more carriers dedicated resources to this kind of customer service.”

Meaningful updates, Lee says, are rare in the industry. He noted Bluebird’s communication style allows businesses like McDonough to better update their own team throughout the build process.

“It allows us to set expectations and allows our team to be more efficient. We align our resources internally for maximum efficiency,” he says. “When there was a hiccup, Bluebird reset the expectation as soon as possible and turned what is typically a negative experience into a positive customer experience.”
