- Since 1897, telecommunications companies have been meeting to solve common telecommunications problems. The Illinois Telecommunications Association, initially founded as the Illinois Telephone Association, was created to represent these various telecommunications companies and united them within a single group. Today, ITA includes nearly 50 telecommunications and broadband service providers in Illinois and more than 80 additional businesses.
- The Missouri Telecommunication Association was founded as the Missouri Telephone Association in 1913, with the mission of providing a forum for discussion and cooperation among all companies on issues affecting Missouri’s telecommunications industry. MTIA also sponsors seminars, workshops and meetings to educate members on critical industry issues, showcase emerging technology and provide professional training opportunities. Membership is available for all of Missouri’s incumbent local exchange carriers, competitive local exchange carriers, wireless providers, interexchange carriers, and broadband network providers (Category I / Category II). In addition, MTIA current has more than 100 Category III member companies that provide goods and services to the industry.
